- The ZX80 came out first (in 1980) and it had a Z80, a ROM chip, a RAM chip and
- about 12 "glue" chips that formed the rest of the system. In 1981, the ZX81
- came out with these 12 "glue" chips replaced with a single Ferranti ULA. This
- was one of the first machines that used a commercial gate array.
